Resilient Stanislaus Grant Guidelines
The Stanislaus Community Foundation’s (SCF) Resilient Stanislaus Fund will provide support to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Stanislaus County that are particularly affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. SCF is working closely with the United Way of Stanislaus County, local government agencies, other philanthropic partners, and our Resilient Stanislaus Fund Advisory Circle to ensure that local funders align resources to meet the emerging needs of our nonprofit sector. Through this coordinated response, our partners have prioritized resources for basic needs services and SCF has prioritized funding for organizations that provide services around jobs and economy; social and emotional needs; and arts, culture, and youth.
Focus areas
Jobs and economy: Services that help create and connect people to jobs quickly.
Social and emotional needs: Services for mental health, child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse and other social/emotional issues exacerbated by the crisis.
Arts, Culture, & Youth: Support for arts, culture, and youth organizations that have been adversely impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19.
Award size
In order to reach as many nonprofit organizations as possible, we will give priority to requests under $5,000. Requests between $5,000 and $10,000 will be highly competitive, and awards over $10,000 will be rare. Additional funding partners may make awards from this group of applications using their own individual priorities.
Organizations are encouraged to outline their total needs through August 2020, knowing that funds are limited and the needs are great.
How Funding May Be Used
Immediate operating needs related to COVID-19 such as rent, utilities, payroll and benefits; loss of earned or contributed revenue; loss of in-kind, volunteer, or other support.
Effective solutions in response to the COVID-19 challenges such as strategies to share programming on digital platforms or closing the digital divide; unique adaptations to social distancing.
Technical Assistance for nonprofits such as access to a consultancy to assist with financial planning and scenario forecasting.
Priority Organizations
The virus and its associated cancellations and closures are exacerbating the impacts of social and economic inequities faced by underserved and marginalized communities. Although SCF encourages all eligible organizations to apply for funding, we will prioritize applications that address the needs specific to vulnerable populations that are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic (i.e. communities of color, low-income, rural/geographically isolated, or other historically underserved populations).
Frequently asked questions
Does submitting an application guarantee funding?
Applying does not guarantee that your organization will receive funding. Available funds are limited and first consideration will be given to the priorities outlined above.
Will this program extend beyond June of 2020?
The Fund will be continuously re-evaluated for future capacity and priorities beyond June 2020. Applicants should submit only one application and updates will be provided as they become available.
When will funds be distributed?
We will review applications on an ongoing basis and make decisions and distributions based on availability of funds and the critical needs we identify.
Can I talk to someone at SCF about my application?
Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to respond to all questions about funding or accept requests for individual meetings at this time. Please submit an application that best describes your current needs and SCF staff will reach out for more information as needed.
