Five Questions with Ron Dickerson

August 8, 2018

If you could spend one hour with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

There are so many, it is difficult to narrow it down to just one.  Maybe our Founding Fathers.  They were brave, intelligent and their vision was amazing.  By creating a republic instead of a monarchy, they risked letting the people have a voice in the growth of this country.  It would be interesting to hear and experience their lives and thoughts.

You’ve been forced to sing karaoke – what’s your song?

Anything by Buddy Holly…

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?  How do you apply it to everyday life?

Be kind always.  I try to treat people with dignity and respect.  We all have hopes, dreams, problems and fears.  I want to encourage people to be their best.

What’s Stanislaus County’s biggest “selling point?”

The people.  Of the places I have lived, I have found to people of Stanislaus County to be some of the most generous and giving, not only of their money, but of their time.  Stanislaus County is also a place that is accepting of new people and ideas.  The “not invented here” syndrome is not present.  If you love Stanislaus County, it will love you back.

How do you define philanthropy?

The act of giving back to improve the lives of others and the world.  To whom much is given, much is expected.
