A Book of Dreams is an annual project of The Modesto Bee, and highlights local nonprofits during the holiday season. Selected agencies are featured in weekly Bee installments and readers generously support the agencies with individual donations collected by Stanislaus Community Foundation from November through December. Final grant amounts vary, based on individual giving. An additional benefit is the opportunity for each participating nonprofit to “tell their story” to Bee readers during the holiday season.

Haven Youth Center Modesto
Mission: Haven believes young people deserve an opportunity for healing, growth and increased safety in their lives. Our youth programs serve as a vital protective factor to buffer the negative effects of childhood domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Center for Human Services: Runaway Foster Youth
Mission: To change lives and build futures through programs that strengthen and support youth and families.
Crickets’s Hope: Art Therapy
Mission: We use restorative and trauma informed practices to serve children through art, camp and specialized programming in order to help kids become their best and most resilient selves.
Jessica’s House Turlock
Mission: To provide support in a safe place for children, teens, young adults and their families grieving a death because no one should grieve alone.
Learning Quest: Kids Quest
Mission: A free tutoring program fro children with dyslexia or other specific language disorders.
